European Funds for Roma
The European Union provides funds for the integration of Roma communities Directive 43 of 2000 guarantees the right of Roma to health care, employment and housing. Of the 275 million euro allocated Italy has not asked a single one (unlike, for example, Spain, Poland and 52 million, 8.5 million). To say that Italy has never requested the funds in question is Manuel Barroso (European Commission's number one) in an interview published by the Republic on 10 November. However, after the murder of Giovanna Reggiani, and "Rom case" blew up properly by the Italian media, Romano Prodi flew to Brussels and confirmed in a press conference with Barroso "complete harmony" on reception and integration policies between Italy and the European Community. Funds will be required for integration. Expect to see what will happen ...
